In 2005, CareFirst
BlueCross BlueShield took significant steps to make noticeable improvements
in the quality of care delivered to our members. We
entered into new partnerships with the provider
community to improve patient safety and reduce
errors in care delivery. We worked to remove barriers
to care experienced by members of the various ethnic
groups that we serve. We offered new and innovative
products to help make health care more affordable.
Each of these carefully planned actions demonstrated
our commitment to our 3.4 million members and to
the communities in which we operate. After all,
healthy futures start with such strong commitments.

The Mission of CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield is to provide health benefit services of value to customers across the region
comprised of Maryland, Delaware, and the National Capital Area. To fulfill this
